MISHA Knee Procedure

MISHA Knee Implant

Have you been told that you may need a knee replacement? You may be a candidate for the new MISHA knee procedure. A recent study published in the Journal of Bone and Joint showed 96% pain relief at 5 years for MISHA knee patients who avoided a knee replacement. The MISHA procedure is an internal shock absorber that shares the load of the knee but sits outside the joint.

Currently, there is not many viable long term options for knee arthritis if someone is not a good candidate for a knee arthroscopy and does not want a knee replacement. We know that knee arthroscopy does not help for knee arthritis alone. You can try various injections such as cortisone, gel and platlet rich plasma, but these are temorary treatment options that do not give long term results. The MISHA procedure is the first procedure of it's kind that bridges the gap between arthroscopy and knee replacement.

With the MISHA procedure, patients are allowed to immediately bear weight on the knee after the procedure. Most patients notice pain relief within a few day to a week. There is some therapy after but once the soft tissue is fully healed there is no restrictions on activity. MISHA patiens can lift weights, squat, play sports, run or whatever activities they want to do.

If you think you may be headed for a knee replacement but want to avoid this, come see if you are a candidate for the MISHA procedure. Call or fill out an appointment request online and make an appointment with Dr. Thomas Kovack at Advantage Orthopedics to see your options. #knee,#arthrits.
